With the recent revelations that Brian Mast and his staff were directly connected to former President Trump’s attempted unlawful photo-op at Section 60 of Arlington National Cemetery, Mast’s betrayal of his honorable military service is complete.
There’s an obvious double standard at play here: when Tim Walz talks about his National Guard service, Mast is instantly up in arms over (false) claims about what amounts to administrative protocol mishaps. Yet when Trump breaks the rules at Arlington while Mast’s staff does nothing to stop him, Mast tries to make excuses and dodge the media. Mast’s disgraceful attempt at using the graves of service members killed in action to trash Kamala Harris is bogus: Trump was the one who invited the Taliban to Camp David and excluded the legitimate Afghan government from negotiations. If Mast wants someone to blame for the tragedy at Abbey Gate, all he needs to do is to look to the draft dodger pulling his strings.
When Americans swear their oaths to join the military, they do not pledge loyalty to the President or to the nation. They swear to defend the Constitution: our ideals, principles, and laws. Mast has trashed that oath with his shameless appropriation of the military for partisan advertising and his reprehensible subservience to the corrupt and cowardly Trump.
