From The New Republic (Greg Sargent) Trump’s Angry New Rant Over Arlington Scandal Should Wake Up Dems:
The suggestion that Trump was only invited to pose for pictures by relatives leaves out the fact that Trump’s aides themselves took video of the event, which was subsequently posted to his Tik Tok account. That video is slickly produced. It sharply contrasts the Trump and Biden administrations on their handling of Afghanistan, criticizing the latter over the final withdrawal and falsely suggesting no deaths occurred during “18 months” (Trump doesn’t say which) of his presidency. It’s a campaign video, full stop.
Trump's response was to promote the Gold Star Families who supposedly invited him. And while they did so, attacked Harris and Biden for apparently not showing up to horor their fallen family members.
To those families I must ask:
How do you feel about Trump having his staff recording him throughout the ceremony, while telling blatant lies to you?
Is using someone's grave as a temporary side-table respectful?
How does this change the fact of the assult on an Arlington employee who was only doing their job, a story that Trump's cronies tried to pin on said employee, only for TFG to deny it ever happened, contradicting his own team? It's almost like you all are trying to bury the lede of this part...
You may feel honored that any President showed up, but ask yourselves, did he do it out of the goodness of his heart and a respect for the sacrifice of our soldiers? I doubt it.
To the Gold Star Families defending Trump, just because you had good intentions, doesn't mean Trump shared them.
