Arlington has early in-person absentee voting on the first floor of the building holding county offices. I was only there for about 5 minutes to be checked out, and then to vote. While I was there at least 6 other people voted, counting those there when I arrived and those behind me when I left.
They were prepared for crowds: as I remember there were either four or five of out tone-screen voting machines.
You must give a valid reason to vote absentee in Virginia, but simply planning to be out of the Counthy/city where you vote for the entire day is sufficient.
